Here I am in Dakota by Envy in Ginger Cream. I'm not sure why ginger is in the name, there's no ginger at all in this piece, but I knew that by the description. It's also lighter than the thumbnail pic, which is fine with me. It's a touch cooler in tone than I like, I love JR's 14/26S10. The lace front is very realistic, looks like the hair is growing right out of my head. It has a partial left side monofilament, which is fine with me since I prefer a left side part, the hair is denser along the part than my JR's, so I think in that department JR's are more realistic. I may try plucking some hairs around this part. It feels lightweight and comfortable, just wish it was a little bit warmer blonde. I'm going to keep it, I think it will be a nice summer time look.rgqn1my53245gxok.jpg

Thanks Antonia, I just wish it were a bit warmer in tone, my skin needs something with a little golden, or light reddish tones, I'm the opposite of you, platinum and ash tones don't compliment my skin I think.

I can't see that at all but then I am looking at a screen. :) On the monitor you look perfect. xo

That looks beautiful on you. You make that wig look so much better than the model photos do. I wouldn’t have given it a seconds glance on the website but it looks great!

My skin has a slightly ruddy tone, and when it's hot or I get a little sun, it's even redder. Luckily it's cooled down a bit here in Ohio, we had record breaking heat this weekend, mid to upper 90's and it's not even officially summer yet.

Thank you Samantha, I agree about the stock photos on the site. One of the ladies here @Shar W posted a photo wearing Dakota and looked fab, of course Shar looks fab in everything she puts on her head! If I hadn't seen her photo I never would have purchased Dakota either.

You do have to manipulate the bangs a bit, at least I did, they were flopping in my face and I don't like hair in my eyes. It didn't take much manipulation tho. Don't forget the 30% off sale is going on, think the code is summer18. I'm trying to hold off on purchasing anymore for a bit, I'm up to 7 now, with back ups for 2 of my wigs, and that's in less than 3 months, it's so addictive!

Thanks Shar  You know you're a bad influence on me, right? lol j/k I have United in my cart right now, along with about 6 other pieces, but I'm trying to make myself hold off for a bit.

LOL! You will love United. I am wearing the Mocha rooted at work. I have had 3 strangers come up to me telling me they love my cut and color.

I'm just not sure on which shade would work best for me, I don't have any Ellen Willie wigs. I have caramel rooted in my cart. The Tobacco Rooted and Sand rooted have identical thumbnail pics, while the Tobacco rooted is gorgeous on you, I think it would be too dark for me. I'll have to watch some youtube videos before I make a final decision, and I'm really trying to hold off for a couple of months. Kristen was my first wig and I thought I really liked it, but now that my last few pieces have the monofilament part, I would like to get a bob that has that feature.

This style looks good on you! Try golden nutmeg, it is warm and a little less blonde than 14/26s10.

I don't see a golden nutmeg option for Ellen Willie United, and I love 14/26S10, all of my JR pieces are that shade, since wearing them I often get asked where I get my hair done. I usually tell them a wig, but a couple of times I said I had my hair done at a salon in Beachwood and my stylist is Jon Renau, lol

lol!!!! Some lady asked me who did my hair awhile back. I was wearing Minka in salted caramel. I said Jon Renau. My sister couldn’t stop laughing. She said that poor lady is going go home and try to find him.

That is really pretty. I was hoping Scarlett by JW would look like this, but it is one hot mess with all the permatease & hairs sticking up on top.

I know, I have spent so much money on wigs & toppers, & it makes me sick the waste of money to then end up with something I will never wear.

I was actually going to order Scarlett, I've loved all of my Jr's, but I decided I'd be adventuresome and try another brand and a different shade. Dakota has some fly aways too, but they give it a more realistic appearance I think and this style is supposed to look a little bit tousled and messy. You can always tame them by spritzing some synthetic wig hairspray on your hand and patting them down.

I bet Scarlett has way more permatease than Dakota. Does Dakota have permatease or much? Lots of reviews complain about Scarlett having so much, and it also has a very small mono part that only goes back about half and inch. The fly aways with Scarlett is worse than any I've ever had. I have it in blonde and a light auburn. The light auburn one doesn't look bad at all, but the blonde one is horrid. I also think Scarlett's curls are too tight for me, I prefer more of a lose wave. The tight curls look good on some, but not me. It looks like Dakota has more of a relaxed wave like what I would prefer.

According to a couple of reviews I saw, Dakota has limited permatease, so perhaps Scarlett has more of it. The mono part is about 3 inches I'd say, love the lace front. it's very well done. I'm not sold on this shade for me, it's a cooler, ashier blonde than my bio hair or wigs I have, but I knew that when I ordered it. I definitely like Dakota and will be wearing her this summer, it's very light feeling on my head, so will be good on hot days. I love my JR Heidi (a little bit longer wavy style), just got her last week, I'm wearing her today, but might be too much hair on the 80+ degree days.

Dakota looks lovely on you. I also wear it and I really like how you've moved the bangs from falling in your face. How did you tame them?
  • buckeyegal1963
    623
Hi Rhonda, welcome to the forum! I twist them, then pinch my way up the twist, I learned this from Patti's Pearls, manipulating them way trains them to fall the way you want. I spritz a little bit of synthetic wig spray on my hand and gently pat the spray on to give it a little extra hold.

Greetings, Rhonda! Welcome to the forum. Vicki, do you use the JR spray or Margu?
  • buckeyegal1963

It's Revlon spray for synthetics, I ordered off of Amazon since I could get it quicker. I didn't realize you're not supposed to use regular hairspray on synthetic hair and wanted something sent to me faster and since I'm a prime member my shipping is free. I may try one of those other brands next time, but this brand seems to do the trick. I just use a tiny bit to keep the bangs out of my face, way less hairspray than I have to use on my bio hair. After trying to get some volume in my hair, if I didn't use a ton of hairspray it would fall flat soon as I moved.

Off topic a bit... I read that over half US households have Amazon Prime and over 54 million individuals. I find this almost unbelievable. What a success story. I remember when they were a struggling online bookseller, then they tried to compete with eBay in the online auction business. That didn't work too well but now they have swiped the market share big time. I absolutely love them. Between Amazon, Sephora and Wayfair, I am practically flat broke much of the time (I won't touch on online wig sales in case I freak myself out). The CS is second only to Wayfair. That company is just unbelievable. If there is a problem, you are assigned a specialist who personally calls, emails, throws discounts at you and makes you feel of vital importance. Then they follow up endlessly to make sure you remain happy. That is the key to marketing. Service the heck out of someone so that they tell their friends about the incredible experience they had with your company. They even sent me a free toilet but we won't go there.

Yes, Jeff Bezos is now the wealthiest person in the world. While I love the convenience of shopping on Amazon, so many brick and mortar stores have suffered and closed their doors and jobs have been lost, not good. My oldest daughter lives in Seattle and is an Amazon employee, she's currently working in the new Amazon Spheres, a botantical conservatory Bezos built for his employees, though there are tours for the general public twice a month.

For me it's Amazon and this site I probably spend more than I should on. There's a local Sephora in a nearby mall, but I frequent Ulta more often for cosmetics and hair products.

Ulta is great but the shipping to Canada (and the taxes and duties) take the pleasure out of it. I ordered something from Sephora on Saturday and it was in my mailbox this morning. I have no idea how, since it came from Ontario and I live on an island, which usually adds a day. I am constantly amazed by Amazon. The dirigible warehouses concept is just so cool, if they actually get to do that! I always thought someone input orders into "the system" until I watched a documentary on what happens after you click the button. Just incredible! There's a dark side of course. I gather sellers don't find it so lovely. That botanical conservatory must be thrilling to see. Amazon is such a master of marketing. They know just what to throw up there to tempt you when you visit.

I don't know, with my luck I'd be standing outside when the drone came and it would land on my head and knock me unconscious or something.

Bahaha! I read that they were having "challenges" because you might have to give the drone a signal that is different from giving it the bird (which they seem to think a lot of neighbours might do) They would have to use more security than that, I would think. Hopefully it will work out better than the key to one's house concept, which few warmed to.
