  • Ever tried to dye or color a wig...anyone?
I think I've also heard of using fabric dyes or even markers on synthetics, I've seen some youtube videos demonstrating, but haven't tried it myself.
  • Trying on shirts, sweaters and tops with a wig on
I'm one that hates trying on clothes and generally I can tell if a top will fit me or not without trying on. Jeans and pants are another story, but I don't have to worry about my wig trying on those articles of clothing. But as Misty says, if I were to try on tops, I would keep my wig on, they're securely on my head and don't come off either when putting a shirt on or taking it off.
  • Wig steamer & cutting bangs
I've seen so many of Heather's videos, somehow I missed that one but I will be sure to watch it before steaming again. So far I've only used my steamer to straighten out flips a bit, haven't tried to train bang areas or try to get lift with a steamer yet.

Hiya B! Uh oh, stranded? Hope all is ok!
  • Wig steamer & cutting bangs
Yes, I'm sure it's automated, and I think the trigger was p a t t i s p e a r l s. She has some really great youtube tutorials and reviews but I suppose since she has her own site as well, it was qued.
  • Wig steamer & cutting bangs
This was the post that was qued for moderaton, so deleting the text, won't let me delete the post itself.
  • Wig caps
I think there are cotton/bamboo wig caps that are supposed to be more comfortable than the nylon caps.
  • Wig steamer & cutting bangs
Uh oh, I my comment got qued for moderaton....I've never seen the video you mentioned @Happy to ve Retired only the one P a t t i P e a r l has up. I have a cheap steamer I picked up at walmart, I just may have to invest in the JR steamer.

Have you tried any other Belle Tress, there are several pretty mid length wavy/curly styles like Biscotti Babe, Amaretto, Columbia etc. If the roots weren't so dark in the lighter shades, those 3 all tempt me.

Even after washing Big Time it still had that greasy feel. So between that and the back being a little too thin, I think I'm going to sell her. I do like the way it looks from the front, and I like the color (fiery copper, it's a lighter auburn with blonde highlights), so maybe I'll try again playing around with her to make her work. I haven't tried heat tools yet, maybe that will help.
  • Wig Cap sizing
I wear mostly Jon Renau, and the average size fits me perfectly without having to adjust the straps, same for my Henry Margu Kendall average size cap. I had one Ellen Wille, United, I didn't like the way it looked on me, but I think it was slightly snug for me if I remember right. The couple of Raquel Welch's Ive tried fit me fine, but again I didn't wear them long enough to see how comfortable they were wearing a whole day. Vivica Fox caps run extremely large, and I'm pretty sure I ordered average cap. If I bent forward they fell right off my head. VF is a cheap brand, and for me they were totally unwearable, too big and very wiggy looking.
  • Confused about washing/conditioning my Jon Renau lace front not heat defiant Cameron
Thanks! She did say they didn't come out as conditioned using the washer method, but good to know!
  • Flyaways (not from static) on my non heat synthetic wig
For flyaway hairs, I spritz a little safe for synthetics hair spray into the palm of my hand, rub my hands together, then run them over the wig to tame those flyaways. Like dc21 I use a tiny bit of Simply Stylin' at the nape, it helps tremendously with tangling issues.

Good to know about the hot hair brush, thanks! I will definitely put that on my shopping list. What size barrel do you use?
  • Leaving Bio Hair Out
My bio hair is about 3 inches past my shoulders, so sometimes I skip wearing a cap with my JR Minka. I recently purchased JR Marion, with her I need to wear a wig cap since she is shorter than my hair, and with Marion's style it would be obvious I was wearing a wig if I left my bio hair out. I should just cut my bio hair, like yours my front areas, mainly at the temples and the front of my hair line are very thin.
  • Wig caps
I have a wig grip but have yet to use it, I haven't had any creeping issues with any of my wigs. I wear a regular nylon wig cap, tho I don't like they way the feel, especially when brand new they are tight. I do have bio hair, crappy thin bio hair, that falls below my shoulders so I wear one to contain it.

Is that Monroe in your new profile pic? I really love this length on you :hearts:

Is Crowd Pleaser HD? No tangling or fraying issues? I still have RW Big Time which is HD, I don't know if all of her HDs are the same, but it feels and looks a little greasy, I don't care for it all. I need to sell it since it's just sitting in the box. I do really like the longer lengths on you, what are you wearing in your new profile pic? I love it and the color!

I know right? They need to start carrying these brands! Julianne is another one I've considered, as well as JR Mila. I think they'd work much better for me than Scarlett, I've found I really don't like much perma tease at all. On me, to my eye, makes it look to wiggy on me, and I don't like how rough all the perma tease feels. You're making me want to go wig shopping again, lol.

Well you look beautiful wearing Kona, doesn't hurt to have a back up at a great price. I've seen that Kendall on the outlet site too, but those thumbnails are impossible to tell what the color really looks like and I don't think I was able to find a video review of that shade, tho think that shade would be too dark for me. The same site that had the Kona on clearance had several RW Simmers as well, I also added one of them to my cart, but didn't end up buying. I haven't been fond of the RW's I've tried so far, and I don't like the texture of her HD fibers.

Please post some pics if you do, I may be tempted as well, lol. I've actually been good, I haven't purchased a new wig for a minute, lol. I'm going to sell a couple of the ones that don't work for me before getting another one.
  • Confused about washing/conditioning my Jon Renau lace front not heat defiant Cameron
My daughter and son-in-law were visiting me for a few weeks (they live in Seattle) so I haven't been online much, either here or on our FB group. It was great having her home, I hate that she lives so far away from me  .

There was a Kona in Honey with Chai Latte on an outlet site, I actually put in my cart and was considering purchasing it, but I hemmed and hawed too long, by the time I was going to lick the purchase button someone else had snatched it up

I think remember seeing someone purchasing it, maybe @animallover? I see they've add some new stock photos, at least I think they did, looks very pretty and glam!
  • Confused about washing/conditioning my Jon Renau lace front not heat defiant Cameron
I remember you mentioning that before how fabric softener made your wigs crunchy and hard, I wonder if it's due to HD fibers? I always do a fabric softener after washing my wigs, and they always come out soft. I know the HD fibers feel differently than regular synthetics, maybe they react differently to fabric softener as well.
  • Confused about washing/conditioning my Jon Renau lace front not heat defiant Cameron
Let us know how it goes, I don't think I'd be daring enough to try it. Even if doesn't end up harming the wig, throwing it in a washing machine uses a lot more energy and water, so I'll stick with the sink method  .
  • Confused about washing/conditioning my Jon Renau lace front not heat defiant Cameron
I don't own Cameron, tho I do have several JR's with hand tied monotops and lace fronts. I do the fabric softener soak after most washes and I've had no issues. However if you use a silicone product such as Simply Stylin' Spray, or Silicone Bamboo mix conditioner (both are awesome products that I also use), you do want to avoid the cap and lace front areas as the silicone can cause the loosening of the knots. I've been wearing my JR Minka 5 days a week, 10 hrs a day (my work wig) for 6 months and it's still in great shape. I attribute that to the Simply Stylin' Spray, it really is great at minimizing tangling and making it easier to comb at the end of the day. A little goes a long way, just a spritz or 2 and I never spritz near the cap or lace front. I use the Bamboo silicone mix about once a month, after washing I distribute a dollup on the lower half of my wig, again none on the cap area, leave it on for about 15 minutes and rinse.
  • Brady by Noriko
Oh I wish I could pull that look off, I'm sure it's going to look fantastic on you B! I personally don't own any Noriko's as I prefer mono tops and lace fronts, and I've learned I'm not a fan of permatease, it looks awful on me.
  • Who thins their wigs and which wigs
The only wig I've felt the need to thin out was RW Pure Allure, I had to thin it quite a bit, it was way too much hair and looked very wiggy. The other RW's I've tried didn't have that issue, if anything the backs of the wigs were a little too sparse. The wigs I wear the most, JR Minka, Heidi and HM Kendall all have monotops with little to no perma tease. The perma tease adds so much bulk, I'm not a fan of it at all.
  • Have you ever been "CALLED OUT" on wearing a wig or hair piece?
I feel the same if I don't 'fess up when I get a compliment on my hair, a little twinge of guilt. I'll say thank you and quickly change the subject. Some people I tell, some I don't, I get how you feel about it.
